Techniques and strategies need to be taught to the students to assess their own behavior. While inappropriate conduct does need to be corrected on the spot and taken care of but it does not need to interrupt the classroom.

Just like math students do not come to school on the same developmental and cognitive ability they do not come to school with same behavioral mannerism. If they do not know they need to be taught the correct way to behave. Do the students or students understand their actions are considered to be disruptive and possibly hurtful.
Questions need to be asked about why they are misbehaving. Their behavior also has to be assessed as well. If the curriculum is to challenging or to easy then the student will become agitated and uncomfortable resorting to misbehavior.Īssessment does not stop their though. In order to do this the students been to be assessed for both developmental and cognitive ability in all curriculum fields. In order for this to happen a number of things need to happen within the class.įirst the teacher must have faith in the students and their self-efficacy. They also need to be excited about the curriculum and the way in which they are applying their new knowledge. You have to have a positive attitude and create an environment that students can be excited about coming back too. They will try and push your limits and also test your self-efficacy and believe system. Students do not walk in respecting you and they do not know your requirements.
Students will want to know how their day is plan and what will be expected of them. The first day is not only the most exciting and anxious day it is the most important for classroom management. These are just a couple of questions that students have anxiety of on the first day. Who is in my class, what does my teacher look like, will I enjoy school and is my teacher nice. With questions that have intrigued them all summer. The first day of school is a very exciting day for students in more than one way. “The number one problem in the classrooms is not discipline it is lack of authentic learning tasks, procedures and routines.”
